Mohamed Essam Mahmoud is an imam and Quran teacher originally from Egypt. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic and Arabic Studies from Al-Azhar University. He moved to the United States in February 2024 and currently lives in West Virginia with his family.
Imam Mohamed holds formal ijazahs in the recitation of ʿĀṣim through the Shāṭibiyyah route—both Ḥafṣ and Shuʿbah. He spent more than ten years in Egypt teaching Quran memorization, tajwīd, and proper pronunciation, and he has extensive experience delivering sermons, teaching youth and adults, and leading Quran circles for children and teens.
Since arriving in West Virginia, he has been serving as an imam and khatīb, offering lessons, community programs, and Quran instruction. He also runs a YouTube channel where he shares recitations and educational content.
Imam Mohamed is known for his clear teaching style, strong communication skills, and his ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
He is passionate about spreading the Quran and helping others learn to recite it correctly.
